Review of "Samantha Sanderson At the Movies" by Robin Caroll

Samantha Sanderson At the Movies by Robin Caroll.

Description:
"Sam" Sanderson is an aspiring 7th grade journalist and cheerleader. When the middle school newspaper committee decides to start a blog, Sam fights for the spot she deserves: to write daily articles in the paper. A recent trip to the Chenal 9 movie theater with best friend Makayla gave Sam something to unriddle- who planted a bomb set to go off during a private screening of a Christian movie? Through daily researching on suspects, trying to get inside information into the case that her police officer dad is working on, and blog posts asking readers what they think, Sam eventually helps to find the criminal- and get into trouble for it along the way!

Spiritual content:
Sam, her family, and most of her friends are Christians. Sam witnesses to one of her non-believer friends.
Proverbs 22:11 and 1 Timothy 4:12 are quoted.
References to God, Bible, Lord, and Salvation are made many times.

Positive content:
Sam is working very hard to see that the criminal is found.
I also appreciated that this book had Christian characters and no bad language.

Negative content:
Language- Lame and annoying both used once.

Negativity in story- Ms. Vanya, a lady at church, is "one of the biggest gossips around." Sam eavesdrops accidentally twice. Divorce, drugs, and bombs are mentioned (some many times as they are part of the story). Lana's parents were fighting so they got a divorce (this is the divorce I spoke of, mentioned twice or thrice). They tried ro make up many times but now they started counseling througj church. Sam has a crush on a boy named Luke at her school. The crush is only mentioned once.

I review Samantha Sanderson at the Movies with a total of 5 stars! I loved the mystery of the story, as well as how clean it was!

Age appropriate:
I would recommend this book for ages 10-11+ as they talk about technology and use some unfamiliar terms.
